Panthr Launches as First Verified Black-Only Social Media Platform

In a bold move to foster digital spaces centered on Black community, Panthr has officially relaunched as a Black-only social media platform. The decision follows a community-wide poll, where the overwhelming response called for a space exclusively for Black users—by Black users.

After the announcement, the Panthr team worked tirelessly through the weekend, implementing new systems and security protocols to ensure the platform’s integrity and safety. The result: Panthr now stands as the first verified Black-only social media platform in the United States.

Community-Driven Decision

Last week, Panthr’s founder released a video asking the community whether the platform should become Black-only. The response was clear and unified: the need for a safe, affirming, and exclusive space was urgent. “What we need so badly right now is a space that is for us only and by us,” the founder shared.

Robust Verification and Security

To ensure the authenticity of its user base, Panthr has introduced a rigorous verification process. New users must submit a live photo of their government-issued ID alongside a real-time selfie. These images are then processed by an offline system—dubbed the T Security System (TSS)—which stores sensitive data on a physical disk disconnected from the internet. This approach makes it virtually impossible for hackers to access users’ personal information.

“Hackers can’t get your ID photos because they’re not on the internet—they’re on here,” the founder explained, emphasizing Panthr’s commitment to privacy and security.

Platform Availability

Currently, Panthr is available exclusively in the United States. The app can be downloaded for both iOS and Android devices by visiting www.panthr.us. Due to restrictions on platforms like TikTok, users are encouraged to access the download link directly through their web browser, such as Safari or Google Chrome, rather than through social media app links.

Looking Ahead

The launch of Panthr as a verified Black-only platform marks a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to create digital spaces that prioritize Black voices, safety, and belonging. “It’s been an honor to be able to build and create this space for you all. For us,” the founder said in closing.
